Experience Summary
I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Secondary Education from Western Michigan University, and I am currently taking graduate courses at Western, working toward a Master's degree in the Practice of Teaching.
I have been substituting in Michigan and Indiana schools, including two long-term substitute positions, including New Buffalo High School, in New Buffalo Michigan, and Kessling Middle School in La Porte, Indiana. I have designed and presented Creative Writing Workshops for 1st through 5th grade students and I was a Language Arts Enrichment teacher at the Bison After School Enrichment, in which I had my own classroom and tutored kindergarten through 8th grade students in language arts, focusing on creating poetry.
Teaching Style
I am passionate about my subject area, English, and endeavor constantly to share my love of literature and writing with my students, and to inspire within in them a life-long reverence for literature. . I encourage and support each and every student to work toward the achievement of their highest potential. I am a student focused teacher, and believe that character skills complement academic skills, and therefore I stress the importance of both.
