Experience Summary
As I am the son of a grade school teacher who is now retired, I often helped my mother tutor her students. I spent two years substitute teaching in New York City public schools. In this time, I wanted a summer vacation, but couldn't afford it, so I arranged for a working vacation, Volunteering as a reader to autistic children in a summer camp run by the Association for Metroarea Autistic Children, for two summers. I have since spent time working with and teaching autistic and developmentally disabled people at two businesses made for them.
Teaching Style
As I myself was born autistic, I know that you need to teach in the way that the child learns and take advantage of his loves and special abilities, so, say, if he loves computers, find or write an educational computer program. If he loves cartoon characters, involve those characters in your lessons.
