Experience Summary
I received my BS in civil engineering from a liberal arts university in Boston, MA ranked among the Top 30 universities in the nation, according to US News. My well-rounded education gave me the skills to communicate mathematical ideas and science concepts to any audience, including children. Now I am pursuing a masters degree in secondary math education in hopes of engaging and inspiring students to gain a better understanding of mathematics, and thus build their overall self-confidence. As an engineering student, I had experience empowering students by leading and working at science camps and tutoring at local elementary schools through a literacy corps.
Teaching Style
I take a creative approach to learning and cater to each student's unique learning style. I assess their knowledge base, and I make learning fun by explaining and developing ideas in a way they prefer and in a way they best learn from. I have a warm, caring personality, and I try to approach any set of challenges in a cheerful light. I also like to instill confidence within my students whenever possible. For instance, the student and I work together through problems giving them a greater sense of ownership of their knowledge and abilities, in comparison to just being told the answer.
