Experience Summary
I taught electrical engineering students who were in their higher years in their batch. Subjects taught included the following: College Physics, Differential and Integral Calculus, Differential Equations and their solutions, Advanced Engineering Math, Elements of Power Systems, AC and DC Circuit Analysis – both transient and steady state.
At the same time, I practiced my profession as a professional electrical engineer doing designs and construction works with my own engineering firm back in the Philippines.
I was Head of Engineering in the college where I taught before moving in here in the USA with my family.
Teaching Style
I usually start the class with the basic introduction of the subject or course; its main objectives and what the students should expect to learn and be able to apply in actual situations after the semester. Then the lecture time follows where we explore the particular topics which have been assigned to them earlier in the week. Problem solving methodologies are then discussed to assist students in doing their own solutions to problems.
Sample problems are then presented where the students are given the chance to provide solutions. Thereafter, I proceed to solve the problem in front of the class for them to copy in their notes.
Topics for the next lecture series are then assigned at the end of the class period.
