Experience Summary
After receiving my BA in Psychology, I enrolled in graduate courses to become a licensed K-8 teacher. For the past twenty-three years, I have been a K-12 homeschool teacher, teaching my eight children. I have instructed children of multiple abilities in a variety of subjects ranging from basic math and English to Trigonometry, Physics, advanced composition, etc. I am currently employed by the Clark County School District as a substitute. I obtained my HQ status in both Elementary Education and Middle School Mathematics. In addition to teaching my children and substituting, I have mentored and served people of all ages from various walks of life throughout the years. Many of these individuals I have helped with academic tutoring as well.
Teaching Style
I have always had the heart of a teacher. I spent many hours as a child playing school. I am committed to mastery of skills especially writing, reading, and math. I am an avid learner and enjoy learning through many different modalities. As a result, I enjoy finding creative ways to engage my students. I also believe that students need to learn to discipline themselves to be successful even when learning is not as "fun" as they might desire. I have worked to help my students overcome areas of difficulty and become confident, versatile, self-directed learners. My heart beats in sync with the desire of dedicated teachers to promote character, achievement, citizenship, and hope.
