Experience Summary
I have a Ph.D. in Medicinal Chemistry with an emphasis in organic chemistry. My work experience has been in the lab doing research. However, I have trained a lot of undergraduate and high school interns in standard laboratory procedures. This training was done with one or sometimes two students. I reviewed pertinent concepts from their chemistry class and explained how they were important in the laboratory. Calculations based on these concepts are standard in lab work.
Teaching Style
I am accustomed to teaching students individually. I review the key points of the particular topic with the student and proceed to working through problems and/or examples. The student will then work through problems alone. I try to encourage an atmosphere where students feel comfortable asking questions.
