Experience Summary
As a pre-med at UC Berkeley, I have a vast experience with in the basic sciences. I fell in love with Molecular Biology because of how integrated the field was. Everything was connected in some way or another. To complete my experience, I was also heavily involved in research. I've done research in stem cells, neurons, sickle cells, and zinc fingers. I've had the opportunity to tutor disadvantaged students in Oakland. Tutored underclassmen in High school. I've helped them in school work, SAT, and college applications. My students have received offers from UCB, UCLA, and Stanford.
Teaching Style
My number one goal in teaching has always been to improve the students approach and mentality. All most every student I have tutored had the hidden, raw talent to succeed in school, but either lacked the desire or the vision to do so. I want students to see problems and concepts like how I do. I want them to be able to see all the options when tackling a tough Math problem or see all the implications when considering cell organelles. I also teach them that they have to mentally prepare themselves to be in it for the long run. I teach them how to plan, so they don't burn out by the time finals come up. I graduated UCB with a 3.9 and everything I teach I practice myself.
