Experience Summary
After earning my BA and CA Teaching Credential in English, my love for the language and subject drove me to complete my MA in English and Comparative Literature in less than two years. Such an intense program demanded that I not only be highly organized, but that my analytical, writing, and verbal skills be immensely effective, as well. Consequently, I successfully translated these abilities to the many students I have taught and tutored over the past six years. Although I have instructed students in all the humanities (even basic French), my expertise is in English composition (essay writing) and the development of critical thinking skills regarding English literature.
Teaching Style
My former high school students used to tell me how much they appreciated my patience with them; modestly, I would have to agree with their assessment. I believe that individuals process information in different ways, and it is my responsibility to understand the best method to help a student successfully learn. In addition to being patient, I am creative, courteous, composed, and an effective communicator. With my acute attention to detail and calm persistence, learning (specifically, writing) becomes less daunting, more tolerable, and even enjoyable. Anyone can learn if permitted to do so in a positive environment and with the proper tools; I enable such an experience as a knowledgeable and conscientious tutor.
