Experience Summary
I've always been driven to excel in the sciences. From a very young age, I was fascinated by the natural laws that govern the world around us. It was only natural that I went on to pursue both a BS and a Ph.D. in Chemistry, as that subject is truly the love of my life. I'm passionate about the subject, as it surrounds us - it's everywhere, we can't escape it, it pervades every second of our lives and influences the lifestyle choices we make. During the last decade I have taught chemistry classes at Ga Tech, tutored dozens of students in the subject, and even worked / taught at NASAs LaRC facility in Hampton, VA. I simply love chemistry.
Teaching Style
In order to teach a subject, you have to know what you're talking about - in every detail - and you have to be *enthusiastic* about passing that knowledge on to others. This becomes increasingly important as the age of the student decreases. Children love to have fun and grow easily bored; keeping them excited about a subject is key to helping them understand what it is you are trying to teach them. I am lucky, in that my own natural enthusiasm for chemistry bubbles over and infects others. I truly believe that the key to tutoring chemistry is to keep the subject light, keep it fun, and *show* a child why what they are learning is important.
