Experience Summary
I grew up in a household that valued education and creative learning. As a result, I have always been driven to do my very best in all subject areas. I officially started tutoring in 2002, at Southwest Minnesota State University. My initial subjects were Algebra and Finite Math. Since then, I have tutor in a number of subject including English, vocabulary, basic Science(s) and Social Studies. I have worked with students of every age from those just starting at 3 and 4 years of age, to more non-traditional students over 50 years of age. I have also been blessed to work with students from various cultural backgrounds.
Teaching Style
I understand that each student is an individual, and I like to get to know him/her as a person. The more I am able to connect with the student, the more successful we will be in achieving academic success! My teaching style is adaptable to the student. Some students need help focusing, extra practice, a boost in confidence or the subject explained in a different way for comprehension. The beauty of tutoring is you are able tailor the material and style to the individual learning ability of the student, unlike in the classroom where you must serve the entire group.
