Experience Summary
Over the course of my professional career, I have spent 22 of my 25 years as a 4th grade teacher. This was a goal of time since childhood, having been inspired by my own 4th grade teacher. I still love this age and remain inspired by my own students. I have, over the years, received training through my full time employer to keep me up to date of the ever changing techniques that education introduces. In addition to teaching 4th grade, I spent two years in the Chapter 1 (now Title 1) program. During that assignment I tutored students in grades 1-3 in reading and math skills.
Teaching Style
After all these years, I still love teaching children! Every child has the potential to learn. However, it is the duty of the teacher to discover the child's maximum potential. I am consistent, fair, and firm. While I am firm, I do still believe that children have a greater chance of succeeding if they are comfortable in their environment. I teach the "whole child" in that we discover new things about each other as we work to achieve a goal. I hope to make a difference in each child with whom I work with.
