Experience Summary
I’m deeply passionate about education and have taught for over 16 years a wide variety of students (ESL, Learning Challenged, Gifted, APA), 2nd – 12th grades and college courses in Critical Thinking, Creative and Multimedia Writing. I have a BA with honors in English, and hold an MA in Psychology. I possess excellent communication skills and know how to adapt to each student’s unique learning style. I’m warm, kind, patient and know how to connect effectively with others to help foster a safe and constructive learning environment. I also have eight years of experience in the counseling field working with teens in a residential, crisis intervention center. I have taught English, Math, Drama, Poetry, Writing, Philosophy, and Religious Studies.
Teaching Style
I possess unique training and skill sets that enable me to reach and connect with diverse learners. I work to honor each learner’s distinctive needs, abilities, proclivities and style through establishing trust by way of kindness, patience and understanding. I trust in every child’s ability to connect with the material at hand given the right environment, support and encouragement. I understand that when a child feels safe, valued and met, engagement and learning follow. Being an avid learner myself, I bring enthusiasm and curiosity to every lesson and work to find and stir that curiosity in my students.
