Experience Summary
As an adjunct professor of Interior Design, I have gained much experience with teaching history of Architecture and Interiors. My knowledge of history allowed me to further the students understanding of the eras being taught. I have always been an avid reader and am experienced in tutoring my own son to read.He has learning disabilities, and the teachers didn't offer much hope of his becoming a "reader", He is, today, a lover of reading the newspaper daily and books when he has time. I have a passion for reading and would love to help others become proficient.
he would be able to.
Teaching Style
I believe that since all children learn in different ways, when you can't get in the "front door", or through normal teaching methods, you must " go around to the back door" and try something else. I think that phonics are a neglected reading tool and should be employed if the child is receptive.Learning styles must be accounted for, and employment of differing environments and comfortable surroundings while learning also help students perform at their best.I am very patient with students and will offer positive reinforcement along the way to becoming a great independent learner.
