Experience Summary
As captain of my high school volleyball team, I experienced the importance of supporting each other’s goals. While earning a BS in Geology and taking many science classes such as organic chemistry, biology, and hydrology, I had discovered my additional interest in math. During my seventeen years as a chemical lab technician, I had nurtured my interest in math by taking night classes. My desire to provide support for others and to make a positive difference led me to return to school to become a teacher. With my Master’s degree in education in hand, I am teaching classes and tutoring students in math, science, and language arts. I am also providing a bridge of support as I once had growing up.
Teaching Style
My mission is to provide necessary guidance and instruction consistently throughout each session in order for students to accomplish and exceed learning goals. My mission, also, is to ensure students that I care. I identify students’ skill gaps and reinforce learning, broadening mastery through guided practice, independent practice, and exposure to diverse application of concepts. I build on what students know and inspire students to perform their best through positive, constructive feedback. A session recap is given to custodial parents communicating concepts covered and students’ level of engagement.
