Experience Summary
I have a Ph.D. in Marine Science and a B.S. in Marine Science/Biology with a Chemistry minor. As graduate student at the University of South Florida, I was a NSF Teaching Fellow, teaching science in elementary, middle and high school classrooms. I have worked as a university assistant professor/instructor teaching courses in Environmental and Biological sciences. I also am the Chief Education Officer for SCUBAnauts International (SNI), which teaches science to kids (ages: 12-18). I was the SNI coach preparing kids for the National Ocean Sciences Bowl. Through these experiences, I have developed an expertise in science, math and experience grading, editing and providing critical reviews of student reports and research papers.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is inquiry-based. I am always looking for ways to make learning fun by using a variety of hands-on, minds-on activities. I am very patient and have always been willing to give my students time to work through problems and address questions or concerns. I believe that all students have the ability to be successful if teachers are willing to take the time to address their interests and personal learning styles.
