Experience Summary
I have a B.A. in English, with a minor in Anthropology, from the University of Florida, class of 2001. I live in Broward Co., FL, and from 2001- 2003, I was a substitute teacher for the county's school district. In 2001, I passed the State of Florida teacher licensing examination. Since 2001, I have assisted individuals with Reading Skills, Writing, and GED preparation through various Social Service Agencies and churches.
Teaching Style
I thoroughly enjoy teaching Language Arts. I thrive in smaller classroom settings and prefer an interactive exchange approach to teaching Language Skills versus the ‘sit still as I instill’ method. Language is a living thing and I expect full participation from my pupils in Language Studies. I believe many students don't excel in the Language Arts due to the fact they don't believe that it is important. Language, being able to read and express our thoughts, separates mankind from animals. How we communicate shows our understanding of self and the world around us.
