Experience Summary
I hold both a B.S. and a Ph.D. in chemistry and over the past 14 years I have mentored, tutored, and instructed at the college level in chemistry and biology. I currently am employed as an assistant professor of chemistry at a small private liberal arts college where I have taught chemistry full-time the past two years. My area of study is biochemistry, a rewarding interdisciplinary field, which has trained me extensively in many facets of chemistry, biology, and mathematics. Scientists and teaching professors must also be effective communicators, both in written and verbal modes, and I have had extensive training and experience writing and publishing scientific papers and presenting my scientific research at the national level.
Teaching Style
My collective experiences as a student, mentor, and instructor in large and small collegiate environments have taught me to display my passion for science and to be a dynamic, interactive lecturer that actively promotes new knowledge and student participation. Furthermore, I adapt to the needs and strengths of my students to enhance their classroom experience. I greatly enjoy teaching and mentoring students and consider that profession to be a worthy life-long career. I am adaptable and accessible to students needs. I am an easy-going, easy to talk to kind of person which helps me develop an effective instructional relationship. My primary goal is to help students meet their maximal potential.
