Experience Summary
I have always had a desire and passion to work with children. I worked in a pre-school setting for over five years. While I was in university, I worked in a head start center and volunteered to work with children with autism as well as for an organization that worked with children from abused situations.
I have a bachelor's degree in speech pathology/communication disorders. During my studies, I worked with students with articulation and language disorders, as well as ESL learners. I have taught English in Japan, Uganda, and Mexico. I am currently working as an assistant in a special education classroom, and tutoring two business men from China three nights a week.
Teaching Style
I believe patience is the number one trait that is demanded of teachers. I have been in numerous teaching situations that has required more patience than I thought I ever had. Each child is unique, and requires a teacher to adapt to their learning style.
I think a good teacher is one that doesn't have just one teaching style. A good teacher would be one that has numerous teaching styles and can adapt those styles to the numerous learning styles children posess.
I have had experiences teaching in three different countries, as well as numerous classroom environments. I have worked with children with a wide range of disabilities and feel that I work best when I am challenged. I am more than willing and excited to take on any challenge that a student has to present.
