Experience Summary
I have a history of Academic success in multiple disciplines. My Major was an individualized major through the Honors College at Central Missouri State University (now University of Central Missouri). I studied literature, writing, grammer, editing, sculpture, painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics, and history. I was an assitant editor for Pleiades, A Journal of New Writing, and maintained the high academic standards of the Distinguished Scholar Award throughout my college career. This award was based upon performance in High School and each semester of college coursework, and paid all college expenses. I was a substitute teacher at Odessa Middle School for one semester and I have been tutoring in the arts since High School.
Teaching Style
Every student can be a successful student. While Academic success may come easier to some, I believe the key is to communicate to each student in a way that promotes their own understanding. This is why I enjoy tutoring. I especially enjoy tutoring writing, art, and literature because I believe these subjects open up a whole new realm of problem-solving, creativity, and abstract thought. Every student deserves a chance to succeed. If they are given that chance and they provide the right amount of effort, they will.
