Experience Summary
Currently, I work for the Saratoga Springs and Ballston Spa school districts as a home instructor for grades 6 to 12. I enjoy working with the kids one on one and feel wonderful about helping them stay up to date with their school work until they are physically able to return to the regular classroom setting. Aside from home instruction, I also work regularly as a substitute for Saratoga County schools, and have built up a great working relationship with all faculty and students in each building that I am assigned.
Prior to working for Saratoga Springs, I taught 1st grade for two years at PS 325 which is located in Manhattan. I had a very successful run at PS 325, and I am proud of my accomplishments with the children especially in the area of mathematics and reading. Lacking opportunities at home, many of my children faced incredible challenges when it came to learning thus I had to differentiate my instruction on a daily basis. I worked very hard to see that all of my children succeeded and I am proud of what I did for them. While in New York City, I was nominated for “Who’s Who among Teachers” and I also won the UFT award and the Scholastic Red Apple award for excellence in teaching.
I am permanently certified in Elementary Education (Pre-K-sixth grade) and I recently became initially certified in English Language Arts (7-12). I hold a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from the College of St. Rose in Albany, and I also hold a Master of Fine Arts Degree; a unique element that I strongly believe has enriched my teaching creatively. I also continue to be active in the community and am currently involved in the Saratoga Springs PTA.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and working with all children. I believe all children can learn, but each in different ways. I am a firm believer in teaching through discovery and in providing a creative approach to learning that appeals to all styles of learning. I believe all children can meet their potential if they are given the appropriate surroundings and learning experiences.
