Experience Summary
Involved in communication related enterprises since my earliest college days. While attending Syracuse University’s Utica College , I wrote three weekly columns for the Pulitzer Prizewinning Utica Observer Dispatch, I covered news, personal features and sports. My college graphics class project blossomed into an internationally distributed bimonthly motorsports magazine. I wrote many of its’ articles and edited or substantially rewrote all submissions. I have written for Motorcyclist Magazine, and photographed for USAToday Other “word”enterprises include writing legal briefs for individuals , concise, powerful speeches for politicians, and persuasive advertising copy for print and electronic media .I recently enjoyed success and positive feedback from grateful non partisan citizenship writers I assisted with advice and re-writes of their work Those successes have encouraged me to expand the scope of my tutoring confident that I can improve the writing of a broad spectrum of clients.
Teaching Style
Adaptability and goal orientation in a collaborative atmosphere are my "style" in nearly any undertaking ,especially this one ...The assisted writer will always be treated as an equal Nearly all directions are couched as suggestions with the exception of grammar. I am absolutely old school on grammar as correct grammar will survive and "fadspeak" will pass.
The client's verbal ability as well their writing must be observed and addressed as they are inexorably linked Writing done prior to my arrival will be analyzed ,the project aim and my role in it will be made clear. When practical, supportive readings can be recommended and mutually discussed in session I do not know it all,.I will employ and encourage by example, the use of
both a thesaurus and a dictionary whenever writing or proofreading .
