Experience Summary
I am a meteorologist and have worked in many sectors including Radio, TV and Aviation. I currently run an online retail business using the eBay platform. I also have substitute teaching experience on the Middle and High School levels. Through the 1990's I consistently was called each week to sub at various schools in the Hartford, CT area. I have tutored privately on occasion since graduating college. My math background consists of levels through calculus, any earth science and physics. I can also can be of assistance to computer related courses depending on the topic.
Teaching Style
I like teaching one-on-one but I do have classroom experience from substitute teaching. I teach by example and encourage the student to ask as many questions as possible. I typically will not go to another topic until the current one is understood. In terms of teaching math, my style incorporates less use of a calculator and more "thinking". For example, instead of just saying "memorize that anything to the zero power equals 1", I will teach the student WHY that is through examples. I explain to the student ahead of time what is expected in terms of preparation for the session and any work that is assigned.
