Experience Summary
I have extensive background and certification in the academic arena where I have excelled as a student, a tutor, and a high school teacher. I have a bachelor's degree in Mathematics with a concentration in teaching, and I also hold a Single Subject Teaching Credential from the state of California. I was a high school math teacher for one year, and I have 3 years of experience tutoring a wide range of students from junior high school to college. Most recently, I have been working as a financial analyst where I have been able not only to use my mathematical and analytical skills, but have also been involved in training activities.
Teaching Style
I have always enjoyed helping students achieve academic success. Mathematics tends to be a challenging subject for many, but it is something that any student can master. To create the most productive learning environment, I will always be patient, polite, and supportive. I am a strong believer in the Socratic Method of teaching, utilizing guided questions to encourage students to think critically and develop a deeper understanding of fundamental concepts. I believe students make more meaningful connections when they discover solutions themselves rather than being shown solutions up front. I also stress good organization and logical thinking, which are essential to success in mathematics.
