Experience Summary
As a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, I have a broad background in both sciences and liberal arts with a focus on the engineering thought process, critical thinking, communicating, and cultural enlightenment. I have travelled to or have lived in 49 countries and appreciate cultural diversity, art, history, and literature. Completing my MBA, having started an Internet based import/wholesale company, and working for a Fortune 500 company allows me to teach the small and large approach to business, as well as the multinational. I have experience in military, entrepreneurial, and corporate operations. In pure tutoring, I have direct experience tutoring history and english at the college level for two years in college and algebra and geometry at the high school level for two years after college.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is about action and about the learner actively learning through multiple stimuli. I understand that people have a tendency to learn via seeing, hearing, or doing, and I combine all three while at the same time tailoring the approach to individual needs. I am extremely positive and energetic and love inspiring learners. Often times, to learn about a particular subject, a teacher must first assess what topic--no matter what the topic--stimulates the student, and then proceed to teach the subject at hand via the subject that stimulates the student. For example, teaching math to someone who appreciates music. Or teaching literature to someone who loves to surf the web. Teaching hard core business to someone who just wants to make money!
