Experience Summary
I have been teaching CSET English Test Prep for more than six years. I began in 2003, while working as a high school English teacher for Los Angeles Unified School District. The Teacher Training Dept. hired me to teach their Single Subject Prep classes to English teachers preparing for the CSET and Praxis Exams. Now, I teach college (Business English at GCC and Business Law at National University) as well as tutor for test prep. I have several hours available per week to work as a tutor and a position in Glendale would be ideal.
Teaching Style
I am known for my combination of academic rigor and creativity. I love developing kinesthetic, "hands-on" lessons. For example, I'm currently teaching "Vocabulary and Spelling" on Saturdays at GCC. I taught students how to create their own "3-D movies". Then, they wrote "scripts" for the characters they created, using their vocabulary words. They had fun AND learned how to use their words in context.
