Experience Summary
As a high school student as well an undergraduate, I always chose to use my extracurricular time towards enriching and educating others. I did so through health and sexual education outreach, being a counselor at the YMCA and Boys & Girls Club, dance/art assistant teaching, and volunteering at UCLA Children's Hospital. As a Political Science major, I was no stranger to hard work, particularly in writing. It strengthened my passion for words, honed my analytical skills and made me an excellent proofreader and editor for various publications. I have tutored students in English and the arts primarily and thoroughly enjoy it. Being around children is one of the most mutually beneficial learning opportunities.
Teaching Style
Children are one of my biggest loves in life due to the fact that they are still forming themselves for the world and are soaking in so much. With that said, my style is to approach each as an individual. Everyone has their varying levels of understanding and the realm of teaching/learning is no different. I strive to find innovative ways to make material not only be understood but also invoke a yearning for more. Through patience, dedication and sometimes repetition, every child can find their learning curve and ride it to the top. It's the most fundamental time in a person's life so I aim to treat it with as much nurturing, respect and encouragement as possible.
