Experience Summary
As an Elementary educator I developed and implemented student-centered lessons in all subject areas for a diverse group of third grade special and regular education students during my internship experience. I earned a bachelor degree in Elementary Education w/ESOL endorsement in K-6. I speak English and Creole. While interning, I adapted lessons to meet individual needs by reviewing students’ backgrounds and learning needs through IEPs and pre-assessments. I taught reading and writing through Language Experience Approach methods with my third grade students.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and I believe that reading is the most important component in a student life. It is important for me as a teacher to provide the proper literacy skills and phonetic learning strategies necessary that will allow each student to succeed at reading fluently and at grade level by the end of the school year. I plan to push and support reading awareness through the use of Choral, Guided, and Shared Reading activities with my students. I believe that every student needs to be exposed to the different types of genres available for them to read and I plan to expose each one of the genres to the students.
