Experience Summary
My first two years of college I was a math major. I took classes through Calculus III until I decided to pursue my dance minor as a major. Math and dance have always been my two greatest interests. Math has always been my strongest subject in school, it just made sense to me. My favorite has always been Algebra. In high school I would tutor my friends at the dance studio in Algebra and was paid to tutor a freshman girl at her house after school. In college, I actually tutored a 40-year-old woman who needed help passing her algebra class in order to finish her college degree. I tutored her weekly for at least a year. Still to this day I enjoy helping my students with math at the high school I now teach P.E./Dance full-time.
Teaching Style
I have always enjoyed teaching others especially when it came to math. I naturally and enthusiastically interact with people. I believe all people can understand math. I have found that most need someone next to them encouraging them along and helping them to break down each method or problem into smaller, more manageable "bites." At first it seems like a foreign language to them, but I love translating math for them helping to build their confidence in understanding it for themselves. I enjoy celebrating with them when they get the correct answer. I thrive off of seeing students grow, discover, and learn. That is the very reason why I became a teacher.
