Experience Summary
After achiveing my first chemistry teaching position in Philadelphia, I was motivated to learn more and become the best educator I possibly could. Working toward my master's degree at UPENN enabled me to grow intellectually and professionally. I have learned a great deal of chemistry content as well as how to implement it into my classroom. I have experience teaching AP chemistry, lab chemistry, honors chemistry, advanced biology, biology, algebra 1, geometry, algebra 2, SAT math prep, zoology, and physics. I have tutored all of the above as well as math prep for standardized test such as nursing boards, GREs, and PRAXIS.
Teaching Style
I absolutely love what I do and I know this is what I was meant to do. I have the ability to break down abstract concepts into concrete ones that adolescents can understand. My teaching style involves a lot of questioning on my part to the student so I can get a full understanding of any misconceptions they may have and if at all possible I use this technique to help them arrive and the correct answers on their own. This ensures their full understanding and retention of the material. Along with questioning I provide scaffolding to help the students reach their goals. Enduring understanding of the material is the ultimate goal with the students as the focus.
