Experience Summary
As a recent college graduate, I uphold and advocate the educational experience as an essential part of life. It not only expands our mental capabilities, but also builds confidence into individuals. Both bachelor degrees that I have earned have done just that. My BA in Journalism and Media Studies has enhanced my writing and grammatical skills, while my BA in Political Science has deepened my analytical and logic skills. I have put these abilities into practice while tutoring for the last two years in English, reading comprehension, and social studies classes.
Teaching Style
My teaching style can be described in two words: persistent and patient. I believe that the reason why a student may seem disinterested in education is due to fear of not understanding the subject, embarrassment of failure, and/or lack of self-motivation or focus. But all of these can be overcome with a persistent tutor who does not give up on the student, and who is patient to understand that the student just needs more time and work. I believe that all students have the potential to accomplish goals and triumph over any learning impediments. During the last two years that I have been tutoring I have thoroughly enjoyed helping students to overcome impediments and improve their skills.
