Experience Summary
I am a recent college graduate from George Fox University. While attending G.F.U I had the opportunity to work for C.S. Lewis Elementary school in Newberg, Oregon as their Physical Education teacher. I loved working with children, and making my own lesson plans. The school allowed myself to work on my own lesson plans, and teach the children not only fitness but valuable exercise, and nutritional facts. I have also had the opportunity to work as a private tutor overseas in Germany, and Spain. This was an amazing experience, tutoring and learning.
Being a college graduate I have had extensive work in reading and essay comprehension. I would love the opportunity to tutor again!
Teaching Style
My teaching style includes patience, listening and determination. While teaching at C.S. Lewis I not only taught but also learned. I believe that with children patience is necessary and primary. Then while you may be the teacher you also have to listen in order to instruct properly. Finally being determined because in teaching you have to not allow yourself to give up. Many times students become frustrated and want to quite, you have to be an example of not giving up. If you do this they will see you as an example and learn this behavior. Thus teaching by example, kids are sponges imitating adults and peers.
I love children and enjoy working with them. I feel as if each child is different and unique in thier own way, thus when faced with a subject that is more challenging than another it is understandable. I also personally struggled when younger with certain subjects, but now as I have grown I have worked hard to achieve success in academics.
