Experience Summary
For the time that I spent teaching, my experience included working in a newly established school in Saipan where I was involved with a class that had different age levels, such as third, fourth, seventh and eighth. This allowed me the opportunity to learn to work with various age levels as well as different nationalities. Also, I spent time working for the Las Cruces Public School System in which I was able to labor with teachers who had students with learning disabilities, plus regular elementary age kids. This occasion allowed me to appreciate the hard work the teachers put into the students and understand how hard it can be, yet to persevere no matter what may happen, since any little improvement is an encouragement to them. Plus, the time that I spent tutoring, mainly elementary age groups, gave me the ability to understand the importance of working with people who are struggling and trying to be patient and encourage them in their tough times.
Teaching Style
I love to work with children and help them to learn. I have the desire to instill in their hearts the desire to grow in knowledge and maturity. My goal is for them to do better in school by trying hard and not giving up. I try to do this using several different methods, such as direct instruction, hands on activity, question and answer, guided and oral reading, use of examples, step by step instruction, positive reward system, and teamwork. I know that a positive attitude and willingness to do my part makes a difference for them to want to do it, so I try hard to be positive. My goal is to get them to be positive, to work hard to achieve, and to be satisfied with the end results.
