Experience Summary
As a former corporate manager and full-time mother, I received a BA in Theatre Arts and a MSW in Clinical Social Work in hopes of working with children and young adults in low socio-economic environments. I relinquished my job as a clinical social worker, and began tutoring elemenatary-aged students in 2004. I became a full-time teacher in 2005, serving 1st grade, 4th grade, and exceptional studuents (ESE). I have excellent writing skills, creative as well as technical. As a full-time parent, I have hosted several exchange students from Japan, Switzerland, France, and Germany. In the past several years, I have tutored all subjects on the elementary level, as well as worked as a professional scorer for NCS Pearson, scoring essays for 7th grade and 11th grade assessments.
Teaching Style
I enjoy teaching children the fundamental aspects of any subject, and delight in witnessing the brightening of that child's comprehension of the subject. I am a firm believer that every child harbors their own level of 'genius', and is capable of learning to their maximum potential. I believe every child deserves a chance to achieve at the height of their capability, provided they are given the chances and the educational tools for success in an encouraging, nurturing environment. I hope that the remainder of my career is utilized as the impetus for those achievements.
