Experience Summary
During the last eight years I have worked full-time in vocational and adult education environments. In addition to ESL, I have taught VESL (Vocational English as a Second Language), and GED Preparation. I have lived outside of the U.S. for five years. During this time I learned the languages, and engaged in work projects including I.T. Consulting, telecommunications, and graduate studies.
My heart is with my students and my assertive style allows students with significant barriers to gain access to employment. Many students have shown their appreciation for quickly passing the GED examinations.
Teaching Style
I believe each audience deserves the correct teaching style(s). If the student has not reached a high level of education then I hold no opinion of this. I utilize a multi-cultural perspective and my appreciation and understanding of other cultures allows me to assist in the creation of an experiential-based lesson for the student.
I believe there are many different teaching styles that may be utilized in different student populations. However, it is still possible for traditional educators to become rigid and shortsighted in time. I do not believe I fall into this category. My extensive travelling and continued attention to providing state of the art educational experiences is what sets me apart.
