Experience Summary
I am a lover of learning. I began my teaching and tutoring as a home school father. One of the goals I set for my children, and later my students, is that of understanding the idea of self-direction. Helping students grasp onto the responsibility habit has shown to be a very strong foundation in my continued teaching and tutoring. Students gain an unmistakable self confidence; the drive to reach their goals. It seems that this gain in personal growth is the real driver to their academic achievements. While I was a full time student I was employed at the Academic Support Center on the Park University Campus. I have a BA in English and a minor with honors in Psychology. I have finished approximately 85% of my Education degree. I currently teach and tutor privately.
Teaching Style
As a lover of learning, I enjoy helping students reach their full potential. I am also very aware that often students are reluctant to put forth strong efforts in academia. I have a very understanding style; an ability to connect with reluctant students who have decided that school is not so important to them. Being able to gain the trust and respect of students is extremely necessary. I have discovered that students who respect and value “their” teacher/tutor work hard to please that tutor. That desire to win approval helps to increase the student’s own self confidence; success becomes a win-win habit.
