About Me

Experience Summary

I have been a teacher for over 5 years. I've taught in different levels, including elementary, high school, college and adult community. I specialized in computer, Mandarin, and math.

Teaching Style

My “in classroom” philosophy of teaching has a three-fold focus. One is my commitment to imparting appropriate knowledge and skills through classroom lectures and practices. I accomplish this by coupling my responsibility to teach with my personal reading, studying, and staying abreast of current research in my area of specialty and related areas of interests. Secondly, I try to focus on the diverse needs and interests of students by increasing student-teacher feedback. I do this by frequently asking questions in class. In this way, I encourage my students to take the position of active participants who intelligently engage into the stepwise recognition of the problem, and identification of the objectives and solutions. Thus, I try to create an interactive atmosphere to enhance learning opportunities. During a semester, I usually learn as much from my students as they learn from me. Over the years I’ve tried to develop a positive grading policy that keeps students “moving on up.” In my courses I teach that one’s attendance, class participation, hard work and a willingness to explore new areas of inquiry are as important as examinations. Lastly, I try to set high but realistic goals for my students and myself during the semester. This creates a managed environment where realistic expectations may encourage students to perform at a higher level.
