Experience Summary
Having graduated from the Johns Hopkins University in 2004, I felt compelled to spread my knowledge of math and science to other students, especially high school students. I received a BS in molecular and cellular Biology. When I came home to California after graduating, I decided to tutor college students. I found myself to be very patient and understanding to the needs of the students. More importantly, I was able to raise their confidence levels, especially for pre-medical students. I found myself tutoring all the sciences and also assisted students with writing their personal statements for medical school. However, when I started tutoring high school students through The Buddy System, Inc., I felt like a mentor as well as an educator. I currently tutor all types of subjects including AP chemistry, finite mathematics, English, history, algebra, geometry, and biology. I have been told by the students that I am able to explain things very clearly and in simple terms. In addition, as a high school tutor, I am faced with the challenge of having to tutor students suffering with ADD and non-verbal learning disabilities. I am responsible for guiding these students to be more organized, especially with their notebooks, folders and backpacks.
Teaching Style
I want to motivate students to succeed in their classes. More importantly, I want to help students to be confident by convincing them that they can pursue any profession they desire. I try my hardest to guide students to work harder and enjoy their classes by providing them with a fun, challenging, and efficient tutoring session.
