Experience Summary
As a family member of children with disabilities, I became very motivated to pursue a career in the field of education. I earned a B.S. with Cum Laude honors, in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. My psychology degree has allowed me to understand the process of interventions, testing, and placement of special education students. I have also completed a M.S. from Nova Southeastern University in the field of Special Edcuation. I have worked with elementary students from Kindergarten to 3rd grade who range from Language Impaired, to ADHD, Learning Disabled, to Asperger's Disorder during my teaching experience.
Teaching Style
There is nothing I enjoy more than watching a student develop a true understanding of a concept. I believe that all of my students, when given the proper tools, are able to learn and excel. All students learn differently and should be given the proper tools and encouragement to do so. I strive to meet the diverse needs of my students through instruction in multi modal approaches through the use of games and out of the box activities. It is my opinion that all students, regardless of disability, can be held to the highest standards possible and should not receive a watered down approach to curriculum.
