Experience Summary
Throughout my college experience, I have had multiple chances to volunteer as a classroom aide, tutor, and student teach. As I am certified to teach grades K through 8, I have taken college courses in all subject areas. I have pursued in greater detail language arts, mathematics, and social science in order to earn my middle school endorsements. I have tutored students from elementary grades up through algebra 2. I have begun learning Mandarin, Spanish, and Polish. Also, I have a passion for learning which I hope to impart on my students. I was a classroom aide for a first and third grade classroom, and student taught in a third and fourth grade classroom.
Teaching Style
I believe in a teaching approach that takes into consideration each child's unique culture. Not only is culturally appropriate teaching beneficial, it's necessary! I plan to implement interactive learning and integrate curriculum. In doing so, I am providing the student with possible ways to connect previous knowledge with the new content they are learning. I will present my students with the opportunity to learn in an environment containing differentiated instruction. In this way, I hope to find what methods are most efficient with each individual. This in turn will teach the student which methods work best for them, therefore increasing their ability to teach themselves.
