Experience Summary
I recently graduated from the University of Pittsburgh’s Masters program. As a part of this program, I worked at the Falk Laboratory School teaching algebra and pre-algebra to middle school students. There I used an inquiry-based curriculum to help students discover mathematical concepts. My prior experience includes working at the Blue Rock School as a middle school teacher, and as a math tutor at the Community College of Allegheny County.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and I am fascinated by mathematics. I believe learning mathematics is the process of organizing one’s thinking. There are many ways to do this and I am excited to help students do it. I believe that students will best retain knowledge that they discover and explain for themselves. Therefore I prefer to teach through inquiry-based activities. I am very patient with individual learning styles and I like to bring a bit of humor to my lessons.
