Experience Summary
During my four years at the US Coast Guard Academy, I was constantly sought after as a tutor for various subjects, but mostly for math/chemistry/physics - related courses. Having graduated in the top 10% at this prestigious university, I feel that my mastery of the subject material far exceeds the minimum requirements. Additionally, upon graduation, I have had frequent mentoring and tutoring opportunities of peers and children.
Teaching Style
I have found through experience that the best way to engage students is to bring the material to their level. I have also found that this can easily be done with mathematics and sciences, for their are cumulative subjects that build upon a basic foundation. No matter how complex the math, it can be broken into pieces that can be understood. My goal in any session with a student would be to ensure that they are progressing on their level upwards towards whatever goal is set. I am goal-oriented, and find it necessary that the student define for himself/herself a specific set of goals to accomplish.
