Experience Summary
As an undergraduate at Muhlenberg College, I had the opportunity to serve as a peer tutor in mathematics to incoming freshmen. I enjoyed the experience of helping other students succeed. I have a bachelor's degree in Physical Science which allowed me to gain knowledge in the fields of mathematics and physics. I decided to further my education in the field of Applied Mathematics. I tutored for one full year as a teacher's assistant at Delaware State University. I had the opportunity to tutor students on a one-on-one basis and as a whole class. This was a positive experience because I got to see the student's growth throughout the semester.
Teaching Style
After having the opportunity to tutor one-on-one and as a whole class, I have discovered that each student learns in a unique way. Some of the students were visual learners, while others needed more tactile experiences. Other students benefited from auditory learning. As a tutor, it is my responsibility to evaluate each student and determine what methods will work best with that individual.
