Experience Summary
For the past five years I have obtained a wealth of experience educating students within the public & private school environment. I currently teach fourth grade as well as the Newspaper Class. I have thrived in teaching grades four through eight at two prestigious private schools in Houston. I understand what is required to optimize a child's motivation & learning.
In addition, I have other specific experiences and expertise related to teaching and education. First, while at St. Francis Episcopal Day School, I constructed and introduced a Journalism and Media Department to the school. Several high-quality student-run publications were produced, and the new department proved to be a successful venture due to the combination of my leadership and the students’ burgeoning passion for journalistic expression. Second, for the past five years, I have provided extensive tutoring to elementary, middle- and high-school students in a variety of subjects (e.g., English, Spanish, Sciences & History).
Teaching Style
Throughout my teaching career, I have learned to adjust instruction to meet the needs of individual students, create a supportive and encouraging classroom climate, and craft stimulating curricular activities. My overall goal is to provide students with a positive, inclusive learning environment in which they have every opportunity to achieve their full potential.
