Experience Summary
Recently, I graduated from Oglethorpe University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and a minor in Japanese. I have received much training in areas such as public relations, journalism, global communications, broadcasting, and business communications. Working side-by-side with fellow students during group projects has given me real-time experience in working with people in accomplishing goals.
During my years in school, I worked as an editor for The Stormy Petrel, and I currently write editorials and report for UrbanWorld Wireless, a mobile media company. I also worked for a year in the Human Resources and IT Services departments of Oglethorpe, and have over three years of administrative experience in working with programs such as Excel and Word. The training I have received as well as my experience in working with people has afforded me many useful skills.
Teaching Style
To me, teaching is a way of relaying facts in a tasteful way. Based on organization, illustration, and demonstration, I enjoy highlighting key points in an A to Z fashion. In this way, my overall goal is to help educate the audience by taking them through a step-by-step process, resulting ultimately in their independence, in which they take initiative to make use of the knowledge. Moreover, I believe that teaching should result in an empowered, independant drive to be successful in acheiving the overall goal. Given the right atmosphere, which is largely affected by the speaker's attitude, poise, and technique, I feel that learning is largely acquired through the receptive attitudes of the audience.
