Experience Summary
I have a variety of experiences which have helped to shape my life as a teacher. Firstly, I have graduated with a BA in history from Georgia State University. Furthermore, I have extensive training and experience as both a writer and a public speaker, two skills which are important as a teacher. More specifically I have almost five years of experience as an ESL teacher in China. I have taught both business and conversation ESL to students of all levels. In addition, I have also trained teachers, written dozens of ESL classes, and acted as head teacher to over twenty other employees in a large school setting.
Teaching Style
There are a variety of skills and methods one may employ to be a good teacher. First and foremost one needs to be knowledgeable and patient. I have a decent education but have continued to improve myself by continuing to read a wide range of subjects for all of my adult life, this plethora of material has helped to instruct students in many areas. More importantly I am patient; learning can take an extensive amount of time with some students. It cannot be rushed, and so one must be able to drill and inspire the most basic material into the most dull of people if one is to do well as a teacher. Lastly, I believe I have both an aptitude and enjoyment for teaching. It has been an easy career for me as I take real pleasure when I realize a student or a class has mastered (or even understood) a subject matter.
