Experience Summary
As a professional educator, I strive for "excellence without compromise". I believe that learning is about opening each person toward recognizing the potential within, and then taking steps to actualize that potential. My ability seems to be that of communicating and inspiring others to grow. I have combined my academic background with my other passions, music and writing. Thus I bring the outlook and freshness of a lifelong learner to my teaching.
Some of the areas I tutor are:language arts, reading comprehension and critical thinking, arts, essay writing, social studies, psychology and sociology, SAT writing/verbal strategies and GRE.
Teaching Style
In addition to my academic and arts connection, I work with the concept of "learning how to learn". Essentially each child that I tutor I endeavor to assist them in learning what type of learning style that he or she possesses. Every person uses the mind through the senses in a unique way. My goal is provide an opportunity for discovery of how to think by using the "whole mind". Once this is understood, learning then becomes an enjoyable pursuit.
