Experience Summary
Since high school, I have been a strong student in English, French and Spanish. I obtained a passion for reading comprehension and writing and continued to explore that as I pursued a BA in Communication and Elementary Education. As a lover of children and learning, I have worked in the field of teaching and tutoring since my days of adolescence. I have tutored children in subject areas such as math and reading for many years and even started teaching summer school classes for a local elementary school while I was still in high school. In addition, I have studied the French language for nine years and spanish for four years and am proficient in both. Since I was required to learn both of those languages as a second language, I am aware of how they should be taught to a child who is learning the language second to English. I have consistently taught and/or tutored children throughout the past 8 years of my life.
Teaching Style
Possesing a keen understanding of both the material that I will tutor and the way in which a child learns, processes and understands information has helped me to develop an effective tutoring style. As I am aware of the fact that every child learns differently, my tutoring goals are to discover which method works best for the student and then to enable the student to teach him or herself to practice that method of learning throughout the rest of their educational career. I want the child to continue to suceed in thier studies, even when I am not there to help them.
