Experience Summary
As a teacher in the public school system, I have instructed students in the five subject areas of reading, writing, mathematics, social studies and science. I have planned and implemented programs for educationally challenged students. I have informally assessed and adjusted programs to the needs of students, coordinated with parents and other educators to ensure the students success. Specifically, I have been a "drop out prevention" teacher for several years during which time many of my troubled students experienced dramatic academic progress and were subsequently placed in advanced classes
Teaching Style
My philosophy of education may be described as that of a realist with strong influence from the ideals of existentialism. I believe that teaching is effective when it is tailored to the needs of the students. I am concerned with the individuality of each of my students, and so I endeavor to discern the child's academic profile and to apply strategies to maximize learning. I take advantage of multiple diagnostic tools to evaluate my students, and I apply acute observational and assessment skills to remediate the students.
