Experience Summary
I am currently employed at the Las Vegas Natural History Museum as an education assistant. I teach education programs for the museum in an informal setting. I work with students in grades K-5 and occasionally high school. The goal of museum education is to reinforce classroom curriculum while instilling a new appreciation for natural science and wildlife. I also help in the development of new programs using the Clark County Curriculum Essential Framework. My position also requires me to use research skills and time management skills. I have also interned at two other museums as an educator.
Teaching Style
Children are amazing how much information they can learn, but often children need to be presented with different methods of learning and teaching. I enjoy teaching in an informal setting where students can learn in a multi-sensory environment. I plan to incorporate this type of informal teaching into tutoring. I want to offer students a safe environment where they do not feel embarrassed to make mistakes and ask questions. Patience and encouragement are the keys to helping students succeed.
