Experience Summary
I have worked as a preschool teacher both in my home state of Massachusetts and here in Las Vegas since 1993. I began as an assistant and through classroom time and college credit worked my way up to a lead teacher. In addition, I earned a BA in English/writing and have worked as a private English tutor for middle school through college aged students for the past seven years. I have an extensive knowledge of English grammar and its usage and an ability to understand and clearly communicate the intricacies of a broad scope of literature..
Teaching Style
First and foremost, I love teaching and working with children and helping them reach their full potential. I am a strong believer that education is the foundation upon which successful societies are built, and I work hard to encourage each child whom I teach to strive for educational success. My philosophy is teaching through discovery. I feel that the best way for a student to learn and retain what he/she learns is through formulating his/her own opinions based on his discovery. For that reason, particularly with older students, I tend to guide rather than lecture.
